The legendary actor, known for his passion for sports, joined millions across the nation in celebrating the team’s spectacular victory over South Africa in a nail-biting final on Sunday.

Taking to his X account, Amitabh Bachchan expressed immense pride and joy over the achievement, calling it a moment of great national honor. His post read, “T 5552 - jiit gye !!! As for the match, South Africa chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Openers Smriti Mandhana (45 off 58, eight fours) and Shafali Verma laid a solid foundation with a century partnership. Shafali continued her stellar form, scoring 87 off 78 balls, while Jemimah Rodrigues contributed 24, helping India reach 166/2. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (20 off 29) and Deepti Sharma built a 52-run stand to push the score past 200. Deepti (58 off 58) and Richa Ghosh (34 off 24) provided a strong finish, guiding India to a commanding 298/7 in 50 overs. Ayabonga Khaka (3/58) was South Africa’s standout bowler.

During the chase, South Africa started well with a fifty-run opening stand before Tazmin Brits (23) was dismissed. Despite captain Laura Wolvaardt’s brilliant century (101 off 98), the Indian bowlers turned the game around.
