Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat announced that the party will launch a three-month statewide campaign to press the BJP government on issues like inflation, unemployment, and migration. The campaign will begin with a march to Raj Bhavan on February 16 and will include rallies and meetings aimed at raising public awareness about problems affecting Uttarakhand residents.

Speaking to ANI, Rawat said, “Starting with the ‘Raj Bhavan Halla Bol’ on February 16, we will conduct meetings, rallies, and other activities for three months to highlight issues such as corruption, unemployment, inflation, crimes against women, migration, and other public concerns.” This comes over a month after Uttarakhand Congress leaders met party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi at 10 Rajaji Marg to discuss a revamped organisational structure and the party’s roadmap for the state. Congress leader Kumari Selja said the high command had given clear directives to the new team, stressing unity, coordination, and groundwork ahead of upcoming political challenges.

Congress workers staged protests against the repeal of MGNREGA, describing it as a revolutionary scheme that provided livelihoods and security for millions. The party vowed to continue its agitation until the rural job program is restored. The VB-G RAM G (Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin) replaced MGNREGA. Congress stated, “The MGNREGA Bachao Sangram will continue until the Modi government reinstates the scheme, ensuring the constitutional right to work and fair wages for all workers.”
