Uttar Pradesh: Woman and her lover murder husband, dismember body with grinder, dispose of remains in drain.

A gruesome murder case has horrified residents of Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district, where police arrested a woman and her lover for killing her husband, chopping his body with a wood grinder, and scattering the parts in a drain and the Ganga River. The 38-year-old victim, Rahul, a shoe trader from Chandausi's Mohalla Chunni, stumbled into betrayal on the night of November 17-18 when he returned home around 2 a.m. and found his wife Ruby with her lover Gaurav.
What started as a heated confrontation quickly turned deadly, as the pair allegedly beat Rahul to death using an iron rod and pestle. Instead of seeking help, they methodically covered their tracks—Gaurav fetched a timber grinder to sever the head, arms, and legs, while Ruby bought black polythene bags from a nearby market to package the remains. One bag was dumped in a drain near Eidgah on Patraua Road, and the rest driven to Rajghat for disposal in the river. Locals discovered the decomposed parts on December 15, with a distinctive "Rahul" tattoo on an arm providing the crucial lead back to Ruby, who had filed a calm missing person report just a day after his death.
Superintendent K.K. Bishnoi's team acted swiftly, using CCTV footage, phone records that showed Rahul's device going silent post-attack, and intense interrogations to crack the case. Ruby confessed under pressure, leading to both suspects' arrest on December 20. Key evidence including the grinder, iron tools, and bags was recovered, with DNA matching from Rahul's children underway to seal the charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
This chilling incident echoes a troubling pattern across Uttar Pradesh, such as the earlier Meerut case where a wife and lover hid a dismembered body in a cement-filled drum before vacationing in Shimla, often fueled by extramarital affairs amid rising intimate partner violence reported by the National Crime Records Bureau. Sambhal police are urging the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious behavior early.
