Telangana: 15 Children Admitted to Hospital After Consuming Panipuri in Rajanna Sircilla

Around 15 children were admitted to a hospital after allegedly consuming panipuri in KCR Nagar Colony, a gated residential community located in Thangallapally Mandal of Telangana's Rajanna Sircilla district. Authorities suspect the incident may be linked to food poisoning. According to police officials, a street food vendor had entered the colony and sold panipuri to local residents. Soon after consuming the snack, several children reportedly began experiencing health issues, including vomiting and diarrhoea. The affected children were promptly taken to the District Civil Hospital in Rajanna Sircilla, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Police said that no formal complaint has been lodged by the families so far. However, based on preliminary information, the panipuri vendor has been detained for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. In a separate case earlier this month, more than a dozen children in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district were hospitalised after reportedly falling ill due to suspected contamination of drinking water in Wards 9 and 10.
Following the incident, district authorities launched an inquiry and collected water samples from the affected locality for laboratory analysis to determine the source of the problem. Sanchit Dhemri, Chief Officer of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Guna, stated that a team was immediately dispatched after reports of the illness surfaced. He noted that the water tank supplying the area serves nearly six wards.
The children admitted to the hospital were reported to be suffering from symptoms such as vomiting, loose motions, stomach pain and, in some cases, signs of jaundice. Officials said the affected children were stable and no critical cases had been reported. According to local authorities, around ten children between the ages of five and eleven were admitted to the district hospital for treatment, while investigations into the cause of the illness continue.
