South Korean singer Wheesung passed away on March 10 at the age of 43. According to Yonhap News, he was discovered unresponsive in his apartment at 6:29 PM by first responders. The K-pop and R&B soloist, whose real name was Choi Whee-sung, had been scheduled to meet his manager earlier that day but was unreachable. Concerned, his mother, who lived in the same building, went to check on him and called emergency services.

Tajo Entertainment, Wheesung’s agency, released a statement expressing their sorrow: "We are deeply saddened to share this heartbreaking and tragic news. On March 10, Wheesung passed away. He was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was later pronounced dead. His family, fellow artists, and staff at Tajo Entertainment are mourning his sudden passing." The agency also mentioned that details regarding his funeral would be shared separately.

Since debuting in 2002 with Like a Movie, Wheesung released six studio albums, six extended plays (EPs), and nine singles. He was set to perform in Daegu on March 15 alongside soloist KCM, but the concert has been canceled. Following the news of his passing, fellow Korean celebrities paid tribute on social media. Rapper Paloalto shared Wheesung's debut single on Instagram, recalling how highly anticipated he was among R&B fans even before his debut. "This is shocking and heartbreaking," he wrote, adding that Wheesung’s music was a cherished part of his youth.

Other artists also expressed their grief. Rapper San E posted, “Rest in peace, hyung…,” while rapper Changmo thanked Wheesung for influencing his life with his music. 2AM’s Changmin described him as “the artist I really wanted to be like” and promised to remember him. Rapper-producer Verbal Jint shared that spending time with Wheesung had been an honor, writing, “You worked so hard. Rest in peace, Wheesung.”
