Aamir Khan’s latest release Sitaare Zameen Par has wrapped up its first week at the box office on a strong note, collecting an estimated ₹85.03 crore in India. Released on June 20, the film has managed to perform well despite steering clear of the typical commercial action-heavy formula. Instead, the sports comedy-drama focuses on specially-abled children, a subject that has resonated deeply with audiences. It has been praised for its emotional depth and authentic performances, particularly from its cast of ten debutant child actors — all of whom are specially-abled. Their presence brings a strong sense of realism and sincerity to the story.

On its seventh day, June 26, the film earned around ₹2.63 crore (net) in India, with figures likely to increase by the end of the day. While minor weekday drops were expected, the film has shown remarkable stability thanks to positive word-of-mouth, helping it maintain momentum across multiple regions and languages. By the end of the first six days, it had already surpassed ₹82 crore in India, and its worldwide gross has now crossed ₹132 crore — including ₹33.4 crore from international markets. This puts the film comfortably over the ₹100 crore global milestone, a significant achievement for a story-driven film in 2025.

Audience engagement has also been encouraging. The Hindi version recorded a 10.89% occupancy on Day 7, with afternoon shows drawing the most crowds. The dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions have seen solid footfalls too, with occupancy going beyond 14% in select regions. Cities such as Jaipur, Chennai, and those in the NCR have emerged as strong-performing zones, especially during evening shows. As it steps into its second week, Sitaare Zameen Par will be up against new competition, notably Kajol’s horror-thriller Maa, which is set to release this Friday. However, given the film’s emotional resonance, steady weekday performance, and positive reviews, it is expected to hold its ground at the box office.

Directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced under Aamir Khan Productions, the film stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh, Brijendra Kala, and Dolly Ahluwalia. This marks Khan’s return to socially relevant storytelling, after previously working on mass-appeal blockbusters like Dangal and Ghajini. With its heartfelt narrative and inspiring sports theme, Sitaare Zameen Par has struck a powerful chord with audiences across age groups — proving that compelling stories can still thrive in today’s entertainment landscape, even amidst the dominance of big-budget spectacles.
