Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar launched a sharp attack on Mohsin Naqvi following Pakistan’s heavy defeat to India in the ICC Men T20 World Cup, blaming poor leadership and mismanagement for the team’s declining performance. Reacting strongly after Pakistan suffered a 61 run loss, Akhtar criticised the leadership of the Pakistan Cricket Board and questioned the competence of those in charge.  He said appointing individuals without proper cricketing expertise to key administrative positions had severely damaged the team’s structure and long term growth. He described such decisions as deeply harmful to Pakistan cricket.

Akhtar also expressed disappointment over the team’s overall performance, stating that Pakistan had fallen behind modern cricketing standards. He warned that years of poor planning, inconsistent policies and lack of effective talent development had weakened the national side and reduced its ability to compete against top teams like India.

In the match, India posted a strong total of 175 for 7, supported by solid batting performances and steady middle order contributions. Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled under pressure, losing early wickets and failing to build momentum. Despite some resistance from the middle order, the team was bowled out for 114, resulting in a comprehensive defeat. Akhtar’s remarks have added to growing criticism of Pakistan cricket’s leadership and management. The loss has intensified calls for structural reforms, better planning and greater accountability within the board, as concerns grow over the future direction and competitiveness of Pakistan’s national cricket team.
