Sergio Gor, the US Ambassador to India, attended the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. During the event, Gor shared a photo with Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, on X and wrote, “India AI Impact Summit in full swing!” The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum hosted Gor at a closed-door high-level luncheon during the summit. The discussions covered key aspects of US-India strategic and defence cooperation, recent trade achievements, strengthening supply chain resilience, building secure digital partnerships, and enhancing collaboration in energy and commerce.

In another post on X, Gor highlighted his engagement with leaders from more than 50 companies, including Adobe, Microsoft, Amazon, Mastercard, General Catalyst, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing. He emphasized conversations focused on US leadership in artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and innovation, and thanked USISPF for hosting the engagement.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is being held from February 16 to February 20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam. The summit has brought together policymakers, AI experts, researchers, technology leaders, and civil society representatives from around the world to advance global dialogue on artificial intelligence. As the first global AI summit hosted in the Global South, it seeks to explore AI’s transformative potential while aligning with the vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” and promoting AI for the benefit of humanity.

The event has drawn participation from more than 110 countries, 30 international organizations, approximately 20 heads of state or government, and around 45 ministers. It forms part of an ongoing global effort to strengthen cooperation on AI governance, safety, and societal impact. The summit is structured around three core pillars—People, Planet, and Progress—aimed at promoting human-centric AI, sustainable technological advancement, and inclusive economic growth.

This summit follows earlier global AI gatherings, including the AI Safety Summit held at Bletchley Park, United Kingdom, in 2023, the Seoul AI Summit in 2024, and the AI Action Summit in Paris in 2025. These meetings produced key global agreements such as the Bletchley Declaration and the Seoul Declaration, reinforcing international collaboration on AI safety, innovation, and responsible governance.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 aims to further advance a development-focused global AI agenda, particularly relevant to emerging economies and the Global South. It is organized around seven thematic pillars, referred to as “Chakras,” covering areas such as human capital development, inclusive empowerment, trusted and safe AI, innovation, resilience, scientific advancement, democratizing AI resources, and promoting economic growth and social good. Each thematic track has been shaped through extensive international collaboration, with partner countries serving as co-chairs. Preparatory activities included multiple working group meetings across India and around 80 pre-summit consultations organized by Indian missions worldwide, involving researchers, industry leaders, and academic institutions.

The summit will conclude with the AI Impact Summit Declaration, reflecting the outcomes of these working groups and building upon previous global AI agreements. The declaration aims to promote people-centric, sustainable, and inclusive AI governance while reinforcing India’s commitment to global cooperation and equitable technological progress.
