On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings on the occasions of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and Magh Bihu, describing these festivals as reflections of India’s rich agricultural heritage and national unity. She expressed gratitude to nature and acknowledged the contributions of farmers, wishing that the celebrations bring happiness and prosperity to all citizens in India and abroad, according to a post on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his wishes on Lohri, calling it a festival that symbolizes enthusiasm, energy, and positivity, and expressed hope for the well-being and prosperity of the people. Similarly, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sent his greetings on Lohri, describing it as a joyful festival that spreads happiness and prosperity among citizens.

Magh Bihu, an important harvest festival in Assam, marks the conclusion of the harvesting season in the month of Magh and is traditionally celebrated with community feasts. Along with Lohri, Pongal, Makar Sankranti, and Uttarayan, it reflects the diverse ways in which harvest festivals are observed across India. Lohri celebrations, especially in northern India, are characterized by bonfires, traditional foods, and folk songs, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
