Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Goa today to attend the 550th-year celebrations of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Partagali and unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram. According to the PMO, he will also inaugurate the Math’s newly developed Ramayana Theme Park, release a special postal stamp and commemorative coin, and address the gathering.

Organising Committee Joint Convenor S. Mukund Kamath said over 15,000 people from across India are expected to attend. He added that the 11-day celebration is likely to draw more than 1.2 lakh visitors and will feature cultural programmes with performances by well-known artists such as Shankar Mahadevan and Anup Jalota. Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math is the oldest Vaishnava Math of the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin community, following the Dvaita philosophy established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century. It is headquartered in Partagali on the banks of Goa’s Kushavati river.

PM Modi’s visit to the Math in Goa is scheduled for 3:15 pm. Earlier in the day, around 11:30 am, he will visit Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, Karnataka. There, he will participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, where nearly one lakh people—including students, monks, and scholars—will recite the Bhagavad Gita together. He will also inaugurate the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa and dedicate the Kanaka Kavacha for the sacred Kanakana Kindi, associated with saint Kanakadasa. Sri Krishna Matha, founded more than 800 years ago by Sri Madhvacharya, holds major cultural and spiritual significance. Ahead of his visit, PM Modi said he was honoured to join the Gita Parayana event, calling it a special occasion that unites people from diverse backgrounds.
