A delegation from the Dawoodi Bohra community met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express their gratitude for the Waqf (Amendment) Act, which addressed several long-standing demands of the community. During the meeting, they reaffirmed their faith in the Prime Minister’s leadership and his vision of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas." Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju was also present.

The Dawoodi Bohras, a small yet economically strong sect within the Shia Muslim population, had actively participated in the legislative process surrounding the amendment. Their concerns were earlier presented to the Joint Parliamentary Committee that reviewed the bill, through prominent lawyer Harish Salve. The committee was headed by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal. Following the committee’s recommendations, several new provisions were incorporated into the bill.

The amended Waqf Act was passed in Parliament despite opposition criticism. It aims to bring greater transparency and accountability to the management of Waqf properties across the country. The government has emphasized that these changes are essential for the efficient handling of Waqf assets, which have long faced administrative and legal challenges.

However, the law's constitutionality has been challenged in the Supreme Court. Several petitions have been filed arguing that the amendments may infringe on certain rights. The case is currently under judicial consideration. Despite the legal scrutiny, the Dawoodi Bohra community’s support for the Act underscores its significance for minority groups seeking reform in Waqf property governance. Their meeting with the Prime Minister reflects a collaborative step forward in addressing community-specific concerns within the broader framework of national legislation.
