Pakistan’s credibility has come under fresh international scrutiny after a leading US warfare expert reportedly dismissed several of Islamabad’s claims during India’s Operation Sindoor as “false” and lacking factual backing.

The sharp assessment has reinforced criticism that Pakistan relied heavily on propaganda and exaggerated narratives during the operation in an attempt to control public perception and project military strength. Analysts say the failure of these claims to withstand independent scrutiny has damaged Islamabad’s credibility at a sensitive geopolitical moment.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India following the Pahalgam terror attack and targeted terror-linked infrastructure across the border. In response, Pakistani authorities issued a series of claims regarding battlefield outcomes, damage assessments, and retaliatory actions. However, many of these assertions were later questioned by independent observers and defence analysts.

The US expert reportedly highlighted inconsistencies in Pakistan’s official statements, suggesting that the country attempted to shape a misleading narrative rather than provide verifiable information. Critics argue this reflects a broader pattern in which Pakistan has repeatedly faced accusations of misinformation during periods of military tension.

Observers say the controversy exposes deeper institutional problems, where narrative management often takes precedence over transparency. Such practices, analysts warn, not only erode international trust but also weaken Pakistan’s standing with strategic partners and global institutions.

The criticism comes at a time when Pakistan is already grappling with mounting diplomatic pressure over terrorism concerns, political instability, and economic challenges.
