U.S. chipmaker Nvidia will participate for the first time in a major supply-chain expo in Beijing this July, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV. The event, the third China International Supply Chain Expo, is scheduled for July 16–20 and will feature over 230 new exhibitors from both China and abroad, CCTV said.

Nvidia, a leading producer of AI-focused chips, is facing growing challenges in maintaining its position in the Chinese market amid tightening U.S. export restrictions aimed at limiting China’s access to advanced semiconductor technologies. While the expo is not typically known for generating major deals, it serves as a platform for international companies to express their interest in and commitment to the Chinese market.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the first edition of the expo in 2023, where he emphasized the resilience of China's supply chains, particularly as some Western countries advocated for reducing reliance on China. Despite escalating U.S.-China trade tensions, American companies will form the largest group of international participants at this year’s expo, with their representation rising by 15% from last year, CCTV noted.
