Rudraprayag District Magistrate Vishal Mishra urged pilgrims to remain cautious as monsoon activity intensified in the region, noting that more than 12 lakh devotees have visited Kedarnath since the yatra commenced on April 22. Mishra said the Kedarnath Yatra has been progressing smoothly since its launch. However, with the onset of the monsoon and increasing rainfall, the administration has stepped up monitoring efforts. He said teams are continuously keeping watch on traffic movement, landslide-prone zones, and the Kedarnath temple area through surveillance cameras.

He appealed to devotees to undertake the pilgrimage with proper precautions and assured that health centre facilities are available throughout the yatra route. Pilgrims suffering from medical conditions were advised to carry their prescribed medicines, while all visitors were urged to keep raincoats due to the ongoing rainy season.

Mishra also requested devotees to maintain cleanliness along the trekking route and refrain from using plastic. Authorities are maintaining strict surveillance over vulnerable areas as monsoon conditions continue to worsen. The District Magistrate had highlighted that the trek to Kedarnath Dham becomes more difficult during the monsoon because of heightened risks such as landslides, falling debris, and rockfalls. He said elaborate safety measures have been implemented at sensitive points along the Kedarnath Highway and trekking route to address potential dangers.

According to officials, surveillance operations have been intensified, while disaster management and rescue teams remain on high alert. Areas such as Sirobagad, Banswara, Jamu, and Munkatiya on the Kedarnath Highway have been identified as highly prone to landslides. Kuber Glacier, Rambara, Bhimbali, and Lincholi along the trekking route have been marked as danger zones, where additional monitoring and preparedness arrangements have been put in place.

The administration has appealed to all pilgrims to follow official advisories and cooperate with authorities to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage during the monsoon season. Uttarakhand Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Madan Kaushik told ANI that the state government has made extensive preparations across all districts linked to the Char Dham Yatra route, including Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi. He added that the government is coordinating closely with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), while the Chief Minister is personally overseeing the preparedness and arrangements.
