Misato restaurant, known for Japanese cuisine, will close in April.

After nearly a decade of serving Japanese cuisine in Singapore, the restaurant Misato will soon close its doors. Founder Tony Young announced the news in an Instagram post on March 9, sharing that the establishment is expected to cease operations sometime in April. Tony explained that the decision to close was not entirely voluntary. Misato, which currently operates at Gastro+ in The Centrepoint, has been affected by redevelopment plans for the mall. As a result, the restaurant’s lease has been ended earlier than expected. The redevelopment process has made it difficult for the business to continue operating at its present location.
Tony encouraged customers and supporters to visit the restaurant before it shuts down. He also took the opportunity to thank diners who have supported Misato throughout the years. According to him, the loyalty of customers has played an important role in the restaurant’s journey since it first opened.
Despite the upcoming closure, the restaurant hinted that this may not necessarily be a permanent farewell. In a message to diners, Misato suggested that people should stay tuned for its next announcement, leaving open the possibility that the brand could return in another form or at a different location.
Misato first opened its doors in 2015 at The Cathay before relocating to its current space at The Centrepoint in May 2017. The restaurant became known for its tagline, high end food at casual prices, and gained popularity for dishes such as A5 Ohmi Wagyu Hoba Miso Yaki, Misato Ebi Donburi, and the Miso Cod Onitsuke Castle Set. Frasers Property won the collective sale tender for the rear block of The Centrepoint for 391.9 million dollars, as part of plans to redevelop and rejuvenate the area.
