Maharashtra aims to become a 1 trillion dollar economy by 2030, says CM Fadnavis.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Wednesday that the state is on track to become a $1 trillion economy by 2030, backed by a strategic and multidimensional roadmap for growth. Speaking at the "India Investment Forum 2025," he affirmed Maharashtra's steady progress, noting that the state's economy has already surpassed the $500 billion mark.
Fadnavis shared a detailed account of Maharashtra’s advancements across economic, industrial, social, and environmental sectors. He highlighted that the Economic Advisory Council (EAC), led by Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran and supported by 20 top CEOs, has formulated a robust development plan covering infrastructure, industries, services, agriculture, and fintech.
The Chief Minister also revealed that the "Viksit Maharashtra 2047" vision document, outlining short-, medium-, and long-term objectives, will be launched on October 2. Fadnavis emphasized that industrial growth is no longer limited to Mumbai and Pune, with regions such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Gadchiroli, Nashik, and Raigad rapidly developing through initiatives like EV hubs, steel clusters, and integrated industrial zones, contributing to Maharashtra’s rise as a comprehensive industrial hub. He announced ongoing infrastructure projects worth $100 billion, including the Vadhavan Port, Nagpur-Goa expressway, new airports, Mumbai Metro, and coastal roads, which aim to revolutionize transportation and trade logistics across the state.
In Mumbai, the Dharavi Redevelopment Project is driving urban renewal, targeting the rehabilitation of 800,000 residents. A unified transport system, featuring a single mobility card and integrated app, is also being introduced. Additionally, coastal regions are being cleaned through modern sewage treatment technologies. Fadnavis noted that Maharashtra continues to lead the nation in attracting foreign direct investment, drawing in 40% of India’s total FDI. This success is attributed to the state’s digital single-window clearance system, expansion of MIDC parks, and the formation of a Cabinet Committee on Investment.
He added that efforts are being scaled up in areas like water security, advanced technologies, and power supply for farmers. By 2026, the state aims to provide free daytime solar power to enhance agricultural income. The CM concluded by sharing that a five-year tourism development strategy has been prepared, with a focus on involving local communities, creating conservation zones, and building tourism infrastructure.
