LoP Rahul Gandhi holds discussions with workers' unions, raises concerns over labour codes.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, met representatives of workers’ unions from across the country at the Jan Sansad on Friday, where they expressed serious reservations about the four new Labour Codes. The discussions centred on how the codes could affect workers’ rights, collective bargaining, and the future of organised labour.
Sharing details on X, Gandhi said a thorough and thoughtful dialogue was held on the Labour Codes. According to the unions, the new laws are aimed at diluting workers’ rights, weakening their organisations, and silencing their voices. He noted that their concerns and suggestions were carefully heard and assured them that these issues would be taken forward and raised firmly.
Earlier in the day, Gandhi also drew attention to the escalating air pollution crisis in northern India and other regions, calling for an in-depth discussion in Parliament to develop a structured, long-term solution. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, he warned that most major cities were “covered in toxic air,” putting millions of children at risk of lung diseases and threatening the health of future generations.
Emphasising that pollution is not an ideological matter, Gandhi said it is an issue on which both the government and opposition can work together. He urged for a constructive, non-partisan parliamentary debate, followed by a systematic, city-wise plan led by the Prime Minister to address air pollution over the next five to ten years.
