Liam Payne passed away without leaving a will. The pop singer, aged 31, died in October after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to newly released court documents, he left behind an estate valued at £28.5 million (S$41.8 million). After accounting for debts and expenses, the net worth stands at £24,279,728.

Cheryl, Liam’s former partner and the mother of his eight-year-old son Bear, has been named as an administrator of his estate. Cheryl, who dated Liam from 2016 to 2018, now holds legal responsibility for managing his assets. Music industry lawyer Richard Bray has also been appointed as a co-administrator. While both are in charge of overseeing the estate, they are currently unable to distribute any of the assets.

Liam rose to fame as a member of the hit boy band One Direction. He died on October 16 after falling from a balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires. Toxicology results showed the presence of cocaine, alcohol, and a prescription antidepressant in his system. The postmortem confirmed he died from multiple injuries and both internal and external bleeding.

Following his death, fellow One Direction members — Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson — expressed their heartbreak in a joint statement. They said they were “completely devastated” and emphasized how much they would always value the memories they had with Liam. Their statement read: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when we’re ready, we’ll share more. But for now, we’re taking time to grieve and come to terms with the loss of our brother, whom we loved dearly. The memories we made together will always be cherished. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans. We’ll miss him deeply. We love you, Liam.”
