KCR has suspended his daughter K. Kavitha from the BRS for breaching party discipline.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday suspended its senior leader and MLC K. Kavitha on charges of indiscipline and anti-party activities. The decision was taken by party president and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who is also Kavitha’s father. In a statement posted on X, the party said that KCR had taken the issue seriously as her conduct and activities were seen as harmful to the organisation’s future.
The suspension followed the Telangana government’s decision a day earlier to hand over the probe into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project to the CBI. Shortly before the action against her, Kavitha had openly targeted her cousins and senior BRS leaders T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Kumar, accusing them of amassing wealth and joining hands with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to damage KCR’s reputation. She argued that KCR’s name was being dragged into corruption allegations because of the misdeeds of those close to him, questioning how the party could move forward if such leaders continued to be encouraged.
Kavitha went on to specifically name Harish Rao, a former irrigation minister, and Santosh Kumar, a former Rajya Sabha member, alleging that they played a central role in irregularities linked to the Kaleshwaram project and were involved in secret dealings with contractors. She also accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of siding with her cousins, saying he was protecting them while targeting KCR. For several months, Kavitha had been openly critical of certain leaders within the BRS and was carrying out political activities through her organisation, Telangana Jagruti, which further strained her ties with the party leadership.
