K. Kavitha has announced the launch of a new political party named Telangana Rashtra Sena.

K. Kavitha, a former leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), on Saturday officially launched her new political party, Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), nearly seven months after her separation from the BRS. At a launch event held in Hyderabad, Kavitha announced that her party would carry the name TRS. Notably, her father, K. Chandrashekar Rao, had originally founded the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) before later renaming it to BRS.
She paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the 1969 Telangana statehood movement at the Amaraveerula Stupam in Gun Park. A day before the launch, Kavitha had announced her plans to establish a new regional political platform focused on addressing Telangana’s “unfulfilled aspirations and pending agenda.” Speaking to ANI, she clarified that she and her supporters were expelled from the BRS rather than leaving voluntarily.
She criticized the BRS, stating that the party had drifted away from its original purpose of representing Telangana’s regional aspirations. According to her, this shift weakened its connection with the people, making it necessary to form a new regional party to carry forward the original mission. Kavitha, who also heads Telangana Jagruthi, emphasized her deep-rooted connection to Telangana and her long-standing involvement in the statehood movement. She said her commitment remains strong regardless of political or personal setbacks, adding that the people of Telangana are like her family.
Her departure from the BRS followed a turbulent phase, including her suspension in September 2025 over alleged anti-party activities after she made remarks against party leaders T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Rao. In response, Kavitha accused them of conspiring against her and her family in coordination with Revanth Reddy. She subsequently resigned from her position as an MLC and later established her organization, Telangana Jagruthi.
