Hundreds of members of the Shia community gathered at the Imambara in Chanderkot, Ramban, on Tuesday to offer financial and material assistance to people affected by the ongoing conflict in Iran. The large-scale donation drive saw residents contributing a wide range of items, from household utensils to valuable jewellery, in support of those facing hardship.

People from across the Chanderkot area collectively donated money, utensils, gold, and silver, while even children contributed their savings from piggy banks. Women donated their personal ornaments, including bangles and earrings, sometimes removing them from themselves and their children for the cause. In one instance, a man donated a sheep as part of the effort.

Speaking to ANI, Bushra Shakir said she had come to donate money along with many others and expressed hope for Iran’s future leadership, adding that people would celebrate Eid upon Iran’s success. She also mentioned bringing her piggy bank to contribute. In Budgam, similar efforts were seen as locals donated gold, silver, and cash to show solidarity with Iran during the ongoing crisis. Mohsin Ali stated that a donation stall had been set up at Masjid Imam Zaman to collect contributions, with women offering jewellery, copper items, and money.

He explained that while people could not physically travel to Iran to help, they were contributing financially to support humanitarian efforts. He added that many view Iran as standing against oppression, and by supporting it, they believe they are aiding the oppressed and raising their voices against injustice.
