Iran Warns US of "Unforgettable Lessons" After Wedding Strike

Iran has warned the United States of severe consequences after an American strike in southern Iran reportedly hit a house where a wedding celebration was taking place, killing at least five people and injuring dozens. Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said the country's armed forces would deliver what he described as “unforgettable lessons” to Washington as tensions between the two countries entered another dangerous phase. His remarks came after the latest exchange of attacks between Iranian and US forces across the region.

The reported strike took place in Kuhestak, in Sirik County of Hormozgan province, rather than Tehran. Iranian officials said the building was struck while a wedding gathering was underway. At least five people, including a child, were reported killed, while dozens of others were wounded. Local authorities said many of those injured were women and children.

The incident has triggered strong condemnation from Iranian officials, who accused the United States of putting civilian lives at risk. Images from the area showed damage to the residential property and debris scattered around the site. Washington has maintained that its military operations are directed at Iranian military capabilities and not civilians. US Central Command said American forces had targeted facilities and equipment associated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including air-defence systems, radar installations, maritime assets and communications infrastructure.

The latest US strikes came amid heightened tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important waterway through which a significant portion of the world's oil shipments passes. The United States has accused Iran of threatening commercial shipping and American personnel in the region, while Tehran has rejected Washington's claims and continued to warn against military action.
