An Indian Army contingent has departed for Egypt to participate in the fourth edition of the India–Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise, Cyclone-IV, scheduled to take place at Anshas from April 9 to April 17. This exercise highlights the steadily growing defence cooperation between the two nations and follows the successful conduct of the previous edition held in India. The Indian contingent, consisting of 25 personnel from elite Special Forces units, will train alongside Egyptian troops in a realistic and challenging operational environment, according to an official release.

The primary aim of Exercise Cyclone-IV is to enhance joint mission planning capabilities and improve interoperability between the two forces. This will be achieved through the exchange of best practices, knowledge, and operational experience in the field of special operations. The participating troops will engage in a variety of training activities that focus on advanced tactics, techniques, and procedures required for operations in desert and semi-desert terrains, ensuring readiness for diverse combat scenarios.

The exercise will promote the exchange of professional expertise and strengthen camaraderie between the soldiers of both countries. It also offers an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of each other’s military traditions, values, and cultural practices. Bilateral military exercises such as Cyclone play a vital role in reinforcing mutual trust, enhancing strategic cooperation, and further solidifying the longstanding defence relationship between India and Egypt.
