Prime Minister Narendra Modi used the latest edition of Mann Ki Baat to spotlight India's growing achievements in defence manufacturing, saying the country is steadily moving toward greater self-reliance across its military and strategic sectors. During his address, he pointed to several recent developments that reflect India's efforts to strengthen indigenous capabilities while reducing dependence on foreign defence imports.

One of the biggest highlights mentioned by the Prime Minister was the successful progress of the made-in-India C-295 transport aircraft programme. The aircraft recently completed an important milestone, and dozens more are expected to be manufactured within the country. According to Modi, the project is not only enhancing India's defence preparedness but also creating opportunities for domestic aerospace companies, MSMEs, and skilled workers involved in the manufacturing ecosystem.

The Prime Minister also referred to the induction of three indigenous naval platforms—INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray—into the Indian Navy. Such projects showcase the country's growing expertise in developing advanced defence equipment within its own industrial base.

Another achievement highlighted during the broadcast was the successful testing of the Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM), developed through collaboration between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian industry partners. The missile test represents another step in strengthening India's indigenous defence technology and demonstrates increasing cooperation between government research institutions and private manufacturers.

PM Modi remarked that these milestones illustrate how India is becoming more secure "from the seas to the skies." His comments reflected the broader vision of building a robust domestic defence ecosystem capable of meeting the country's strategic needs while encouraging innovation, research, and advanced manufacturing. The emphasis on homegrown technology aligns with the government's long-term Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which seeks to make India more self-sufficient across critical sectors, including defence.
