India dispatches humanitarian assistance to Madagascar following widespread devastation caused by a cyclone.

India has provided humanitarian aid to Madagascar after the island nation suffered significant damage from tropical cyclones Fytia and Gezani earlier this year, reinforcing its support during the ongoing relief operations. An Indian Air Force C 17 aircraft delivered about 30 tonnes of assistance to Antananarivo, including 12 tonnes of medical supplies and 18 tonnes of disaster relief materials. The shipment aims to help authorities and humanitarian organisations assist communities affected by the cyclones.
The relief package contains essential items such as life saving medicines, surgical equipment, tents, water storage tanks, dignity kits and ready to eat food. These supplies are intended to meet urgent humanitarian needs and support those impacted by the disaster. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the assistance highlights India commitment to standing with Madagascar and helping people during times of crisis. He stated that India stands in solidarity with the people of Madagascar and has sent aid to support ongoing relief efforts after the devastation caused by the cyclones.
The relief materials were delivered after the country experienced widespread destruction earlier this year, with homes, infrastructure and livelihoods severely affected in several areas. Madagascar, located in the Indian Ocean, is frequently hit by natural disasters, making international support vital during emergencies.
India humanitarian assistance is part of its broader effort to support partner countries during disasters and crises. Through such initiatives, India has regularly provided aid to countries affected by cyclones, earthquakes, floods and other emergencies under its humanitarian assistance and disaster relief policy.
