Early Sunday morning, five gunshots were fired outside Bollywood director and producer Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area, between 12:40 am and 1 am. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Shetty was at home at the time, officials confirmed. Preliminary investigations suggest that only one person was involved in the firing. CCTV footage obtained by the police reportedly shows the suspect smoking near the area. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are exploring all possible angles.

Teams from Juhu Police and the crime branch promptly arrived at the scene to investigate. A high-level meeting of the Mumbai Police is underway to coordinate the response and plan further action. A case has been registered against unidentified assailants under the relevant sections of the BNS and Arms Act. Meanwhile, heavy security has been deployed around Shetty’s residence to prevent any further threats. Rohit Shetty is a prominent filmmaker in the Indian film industry, known for directing blockbuster movies such as Golmaal and Singham.

The incident has drawn parallels with a 2024 attack outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, where two men on a bike fired four rounds before fleeing. The gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang had claimed responsibility for that attack and also for the murder of Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique, a close associate of Khan. Bishnoi, currently in prison, has had a longstanding feud with Khan stemming from the Blackbuck poaching case, as the Bishnoi community considers Blackbucks sacred. Following that incident, Salman Khan has been under heightened security.
