A chilling development has emerged in the investigation of the recent blast near Delhi's iconic Red Fort. Authorities have released the first photograph of the prime suspect, identified as Dr. Umar Mohammad. He is believed to be the driver of the white Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort metro station, leading to tragic loss of life and multiple injuries.

CCTV footage reveals that the car was parked near the Red Fort for about three hours before the explosion, from roughly 3:19 PM until shortly before the blast at 6:52 PM. During this time, the vehicle remained stationary in a parking lot close to the heritage site, raising questions about the suspect’s intentions and preparations. The images further show a man, believed to be Dr. Umar, behind the wheel wearing a blue and black t-shirt, reinforcing the suspicion that he was directly involved in the attack.

Dr. Umar Mohammad hails from Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir and was employed as a doctor at Al Falah Medical College. Reports indicate he was linked to a terror module operating out of Faridabad, Haryana, which was recently busted by police forces from Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. This connection has prompted investigators to probe the incident as a terror attack under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

This blast tragically claimed the lives of nine people and injured over 20 others, with the explosion setting off a chain reaction that ignited nearby vehicles in the congested area.
