Amid growing controversy over his collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh shared a cryptic post on social media. The uproar began after the announcement of his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, which drew attention due to Aamir’s involvement. Diljit posted on Instagram, “Censored before release?” — a remark believed to refer to the long-delayed film Punjab 95. Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film tells the story of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who exposed atrocities during Punjab’s militancy era and has faced censorship challenges.

Meanwhile, Sardaar Ji 3, a fantasy horror-comedy and the third installment in the popular franchise, remains in the spotlight. The film stirred backlash after the inclusion of Hania Aamir, especially in light of ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. Despite the backlash, Diljit is actively promoting the film internationally. He captioned the trailer post with, “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June Overseas Only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.”

The trailer’s release triggered a wave of criticism on social media, with many Indian users expressing disappointment over his choice to work with a Pakistani actress. Adding to the controversy, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) condemned the casting of Hania Aamir, citing her alleged anti-India views. The organization demanded that the Indian government revoke the passports of those involved and enforce a nationwide ban on the film’s release in India.
