A 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her 22-year-old boyfriend at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri on Tuesday afternoon. Her body was later concealed inside a double bed storage box, police said on Wednesday. Officials stated that the main accused was arrested the next day along with his 50-year-old uncle and the uncle’s 52-year-old associate, who are accused of aiding in the crime. Senior police officers said the accused confessed to killing the woman in a fit of anger after she refused to engage in physical relations with his uncle and the other man.

According to police, the accused overpowered the woman, pinned her down, and inflicted injuries to her forehead before smothering her with a blanket and strangling her. He then hid the body in a bed box inside a room at the PG, which belonged to a friend. The uncle and his associate allegedly stood guard outside and later helped the accused escape.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Singh said that around 7 pm on Tuesday, Mangolpuri police received information about a body found inside a bed box in a building in Patthar Market. When officers reached the spot, the PG owner told them he had allowed the accused to use his room for a few hours. Upon returning, he found the room unlocked and the accused missing. He noticed a leg sticking out of the bed box and discovered the body, after which he alerted the police.

The victim’s body showed signs of strangulation and head injuries and was sent for post-mortem examination. She was a domestic worker, married, and a mother of three children. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and destruction of evidence.

Investigations revealed that the woman was in a relationship with the accused, who ran a chicken shop near her residence. On Tuesday around 4:30 pm, the two went to the room, where the other two men later joined them. The accused allegedly assaulted and killed her before hiding the body and fleeing with the others, police said.
