Newly appointed Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu met Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan at the Vice President’s residence, the Uprashtrapati Bhavan. Sandhu shared on social media that he was grateful for the Vice President’s warmth and the valuable guidance he received during the meeting. Sandhu also met President Droupadi Murmu on Friday, expressing appreciation for her encouragement and guidance for the responsibilities ahead.

Sandhu took oath as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in the presence of Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya. His appointment is part of a broader administrative reshuffle involving Governors and Lieutenant Governors across the country. In this reshuffle, Sandhu replaced V. K. Saxena, who has now been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. Sandhu had also contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking to reporters earlier, Sandhu described Delhi as his “karmabhoomi,” noting that he had studied and worked in the city. He emphasized the need for a solution oriented approach and cooperation across political lines to address the challenges faced by the national capital. He stated that Delhi has many stakeholders and stressed the importance of collective responsibility among the elected government and other stakeholders to support the city’s development. Sandhu also said that while challenges will continue to grow, it is important to work together beyond party differences to turn them into opportunities and find effective solutions.
