A series of coordinated attacks on security forces have been reported across Balochistan in the past 24 hours, with unidentified armed groups targeting police and paramilitary personnel in multiple districts. According to reports, gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in a local area of Mastung, seizing weapons and belongings from police and Eagle Squad personnel before fleeing the scene.
In another incident, armed assailants stormed the Grok Levies checkpost in the Naal area of Khuzdar, confiscating weapons and motorcycles from Levies personnel. A separate attack occurred in Wadh, Khuzdar, where a group of armed fighters raided a police station on Killi Saleh Mohammad Road. The attackers took police officers hostage but later released them unharmed, after seizing all government-issued weapons and equipment from the station. A similar assault was carried out in Ormara, where unidentified attackers ambushed a Coastal Highway Police (10-N) vehicle in the Makula area. The assailants seized government weapons and other equipment before setting the police vehicle on fire. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks. However, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) later took credit for the police checkpoint raid in Wadh.
According to a statement by BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, fighters surrounded the checkpoint at approximately 11:00 PM on March 10, disarmed the three police officers on duty, and seized their weapons. He added that the officers were released unharmed due to their Baloch identity.
The BLF accused Pakistani authorities of intentionally setting up police and Levies checkpoints in rural Balochistan to store weapons and use local recruits as proxies against Baloch militants.
“The Pakistani state is deliberately establishing police and Levies posts in rural areas,” Major Gwahram stated. “They stockpile weapons there, intending to use local recruits as proxies in their conflict with Baloch freedom fighters.” He further alleged that the state exploits economic hardships and unemployment among Baloch youth, persuading them to join security forces and take up arms against their own people.
“We urge all Baloch personnel in Levies and police forces to avoid resistance when confronted by BLF fighters,” he added. “This will be in their best interests and that of the Baloch nation as a whole.” Additionally, the BLF claimed responsibility for an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle in the Mehnaz area of Buleda. According to the group, the explosion completely destroyed the vehicle, killing all seven FC soldiers onboard. Concluding the statement, Major Gwahram reiterated the BLF’s intent to continue targeting Pakistani security forces and state-backed projects, vowing, “We reaffirm our commitment to continue our struggle until Balochistan’s liberation is achieved.”
