A prominent human rights organisation in Pakistan has once again called for an immediate end to enforced disappearances in Balochistan, highlighting the continued abduction of civilians and the absence of accountability in the troubled province. The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, a Quetta-based advocacy group, said cases of enforced disappearances continue to rise despite repeated assurances from the authorities. The group drew attention to the recent disappearance of two individuals, alleging that one man was taken from the Hub Chowki area while another was picked up from Mastung district under suspicious circumstances.

In a strongly worded statement, the organisation accused state agencies of carrying out systematic rights abuses in Balochistan, including illegal detentions, extrajudicial killings and the targeting of political activists. It warned that such practices have become entrenched over the years, leaving thousands of families in prolonged anguish and uncertainty.

The group noted that enforced disappearances increased during the past year, with women and young activists increasingly becoming victims. Many of those taken remain untraced, deepening concerns over the lack of transparency and judicial oversight in security operations across the province. Rights activists argue that enforced disappearances violate Pakistan’s constitution as well as international human rights conventions.

They have urged the government, judiciary and security institutions to produce missing persons before courts, hold perpetrators accountable and restore public trust through lawful and transparent action. The renewed appeal comes amid growing domestic and international criticism of Pakistan’s handling of human rights in Balochistan, where decades of conflict, militarisation and political marginalisation continue to fuel instability and resentment.
