Army Chief honors BSF woman officer for her courage in Operation Sindoor.

On May 30, 2025, the Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, honored BSF Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari with the Commendation Disc for her outstanding bravery and operational excellence during Operation Sindoor along the Jammu frontier. Leading a forward-deployed BSF unit positioned just 150 meters from a Pakistani post along the International Border, Assistant Commandant Bhandari led her team in effectively neutralizing three enemy posts beyond the zero line with a strong retaliatory response.
BSF Jammu acknowledged the recognition on X, stating that Neha displayed exceptional leadership and courage under intense conditions. In addition to Neha, six women constables manned gun positions at forward posts across Samba, R S Pura, and Akhnoor sectors, showing high morale as they engaged enemy targets.
A proud third-generation officer from Uttarakhand, Neha currently commands a border outpost in the Pargwal area of the Akhnoor sector in Jammu district. Speaking to PTI, she expressed pride in defending the International Border alongside her troops. Her grandfather served in the Indian Army, while both her parents served in the CRPF, continuing a family tradition of service to the nation.
