Apple CEO Tim Cook presents Donald Trump with a one-of-a-kind 24-carat gold gift.

Apple CEO Tim Cook presented former President Donald Trump with a personalized gift ahead of announcing a significant boost in Apple’s U.S. manufacturing investments, totaling an additional $100 billion. During a press conference at the White House on Wednesday (local time), Cook unveiled a specially crafted glass piece with a 24-karat gold base, engraved specifically for Trump. He explained that the glass was designed by a former U.S. Marine Corporal, now employed at Apple, and was produced in California, while the gold base was sourced from Utah. “It’s a one-of-a-kind piece, designed just for you,” Cook told Trump.
Following the gift presentation, Cook outlined Apple’s expanded commitment to domestic production. He revealed that the company will now exclusively use rare-earth magnets made in the United States for its devices. These magnets will be supplied by MP Materials, the only fully integrated rare-earth producer in the country.
“This year alone, U.S. manufacturers are expected to produce 19 billion chips for Apple across 24 factories in 12 states,” Cook noted. He also announced plans to develop a rare-earth recycling facility in Mountain Pass, California, in partnership with MP Materials, which will also be expanding its main facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
With the new announcement, Apple’s total U.S. investment commitment rises to $600 billion over the next four years, including the $100 billion announced Wednesday. Earlier this year, Apple pledged $500 billion and the creation of 20,000 new jobs across the country. This strategic investment move is also viewed as a way for Apple to potentially avoid rising import tariffs under Trump’s trade policies.
