Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn met Argentine football legend Lionel Messi on Sunday, who was accompanied by Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul. The football stars shook hands with Devgn before he was formally welcomed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. It was a memorable day for both cricket and football fans at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium, as Messi visited as part of his 'GOAT India Tour' 2025. The football icon also met Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri and cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar, who holds the prestigious Bharat Ratna award.

The event began with the anchor hyping the crowd, with chants of "Messi, Messi, Messi" filling the stadium in anticipation of the football star’s arrival. Celebrated Indian DJ, DJ Chetas, kicked off the festivities with a set of curated songs, blending popular Bollywood hits, English tracks, and international anthems, including Ed Sheeran's "Sapphire," K’Naan’s "Wavin’ Flag," and B Praak's "Teri Mitti."

Following the musical performances, a friendly football match took place between Indian Stars and Mitra Stars. The Indian Stars team featured actors Tiger Shroff, Jim Sarbh, and footballers Nikhil Poojari and Bala Devi, while Mitra Stars included Sunil Chhetri and his Bengaluru FC teammates Rahul Bheke and Chinglensana Singh Konsham.

Messi and his teammates also spent time on the pitch with young female players from Maharashtra’s grassroots football initiative, 'Project Mahadeva,' giving them an unforgettable experience of passing the ball with one of the greatest footballers in history. The stars also delighted the crowd by kicking footballs into the stands, each kick met with louder cheers than the last. The event concluded with fans chanting the names of Sachin and Messi in unison. Messi’s final stop of the 'GOAT India Tour' will be in Delhi on Monday.
