West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday described the recent communal violence in Murshidabad as "pre-planned" and accused certain members of the BSF, central agencies, and the BJP of fueling tensions by allegedly allowing illegal cross-border immigration from Bangladesh. In a meeting with Imams, Banerjee claimed that despite the unstable situation in Bangladesh, the central government allowed illegal entry from across the border and alleged that the BSF and other agencies played a role in instigating the unrest in Bengal.

Banerjee urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to refrain from enforcing the "atrocious" Waqf Amendment Act and asked him to keep the Union Home Ministry, led by Amit Shah, under control. She also criticized Amit Shah, stating that he was causing harm to the nation for his own political gain.

Addressing the role of elements from across the border in the Murshidabad violence, Banerjee questioned whether it was the BSF's responsibility to guard the border, since the state government does not oversee the international boundary. She called on the central government to take responsibility for the situation.

The Chief Minister announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of three victims killed in the violence and directed the state chief secretary to investigate the BSF's role, accusing the force of firing shots that led to one of the deaths. She also pledged to uncover whom the BSF had allegedly financed in the bordering areas to incite violence.

Banerjee further alleged that outsiders linked to the BJP were brought into the state to provoke violence before escaping, and demanded accountability. She accused them of attempting to polarize Hindus and Muslims for political gain, warning against dividing the country and calling for unity instead.
