The District Administration of Rajouri organized a “Run for Unity” to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Students from various schools and local residents enthusiastically participated in the event. Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma highlighted that the celebration would include multiple activities such as a Pad Yatra, pledge ceremony, plantation drive, and the Run for Unity. He remarked, “Today is a significant day, marking the 150th birth anniversary of a leader who played a crucial role in uniting the nation. Through various initiatives like the Pad Yatra, pledge, plantation drive, and Run for Unity, we pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The active involvement of youth makes this occasion even more meaningful.”

Rajouri SSP Gaurav Sikarwar added that the administration had organized several events to spread Sardar Patel’s vision of national unity, noting the enthusiasm and positive spirit among participants. Earlier in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the Run for Unity, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the campaign in 2014 to honor India’s national heroes. He stated, “The nation remembers Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — the architect of a united India and the Iron Man of India — with gratitude on his 150th birth anniversary. The Run for Unity, being held at over 600 locations nationwide on October 31, aims to ignite a sense of patriotism among the youth.”

In Moradabad, the Nagar Nigam also launched a Run for Unity, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from children and citizens alike. Born on October 31, 1875, in Nandia, Gujarat, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel served as India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. Renowned as the “Iron Man of India,” he played a decisive role in integrating more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union, ensuring the foundation of a unified and resilient nation after independence.
