Delhi Congress president arrested while protesting ED's action against Gandhi.

Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav and several party members were detained on Wednesday during a protest outside 24, Akbar Road against the Centre, following the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filing a charge sheet in the National Herald case. The protest was sparked by the ED's recent charge sheet against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of money laundering. This was the first time the Gandhis have been officially charge-sheeted in the case.
Filed on April 9, the charge sheet also names Congress leaders Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey as co-accused. The ED has leveled charges under Sections 3 (money laundering) and 4 (punishment for money laundering) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Special Judge Vishal Gogne reviewed the charge sheet and set the matter for hearing on April 25. This development follows the ED's recent efforts to seize immovable assets worth ₹661 crore linked to the Congress-run National Herald newspaper and Associated Journals Limited (AJL).
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate accused the BJP-led government of trying to target the Gandhi family and the Congress. She emphasized that the case, over a decade old, had not yielded any concrete results, and that the government waited until the 365th day to file the charge sheet. She argued that no money had exchanged hands, calling the charges baseless.
In response, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad dismissed the Congress's claims of political vendetta. He pointed out that Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are out on bail and had sought to have the proceedings quashed in both the high court and Supreme Court, without success. He reiterated that the case has been ongoing for four years, with the Gandhis failing to provide satisfactory answers, and stated that the law is simply following its course.
