The Special Staff of Delhi Police’s Southeast District busted an alleged gambling racket, arresting 20 people and seizing a large sum of cash, mobile phones, and playing cards. Officials confirmed that Rs 3,84,950 in cash, 27 mobile phones, and 20 decks of cards were recovered from the spot on Wednesday. Investigations are ongoing.

Earlier this month, on September 8, police had dismantled another illegal online casino racket operating from Mumbai. The network was reportedly attracting users through suspicious links and unauthorized apps. Nine individuals, including the mastermind, were arrested. According to officials, the group distributed download links hosted outside legitimate app stores and tricked users into installing unauthorized apps via QR codes and OTP verification. Once installed, users were encouraged to buy points with real money to participate in casino-style games. After running the apps for two to three months, the accused would deactivate them and circulate new links, continuing the fraud cycle.

On September 5, while patrolling Sultan Puri near DDA Market, P-Block, police received information about illegal online gambling. Acting swiftly, a raid was conducted with local police support. Several suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended, and nine individuals, including the kingpin, were arrested. Authorities also recovered Rs 85,320 in cash, allegedly earned through online gambling.
