Bollywood star Salman Khan is facing legal action after a complaint was lodged against him in the Kota Consumer Court, alleging that advertisements for a popular pan masala brand he endorses were misleading. The complaint was filed by senior BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey, who has requested a ban on such advertisements. Following the filing, the Kota Consumer Court issued notices to Salman Khan, asking for a formal response.

The complaint claims that the makers of Rajshree Pan Masala and Salman Khan have misled consumers by promoting the product as “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala.” The petitioner questioned the authenticity of these claims, noting that saffron, priced at nearly Rs 4 lakh per kilogram, could not realistically be included in a product sold for Rs 5. Additionally, the complaint highlighted concerns about the influence of such advertisements on youth, pointing out that pan masala consumption is linked to rising cancer cases.

“The company, Rajshree Pan Masala, and its brand ambassador Salman Khan claim the product contains saffron and encourage young people to consume it. Salman Khan is a role model for many. We have filed a complaint in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been issued for a hearing,” Advocate Honey told ANI.

He added, “In other countries, celebrities do not promote products like cold drinks, yet here they are promoting tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to send the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is a leading cause of mouth cancer.” The Kota Consumer Court has acknowledged the complaint and scheduled a hearing for November 27, 2025. Responses from both Salman Khan and the company are still pending.
