Harish Gajwani, a local YouTuber known for highlighting crime and civic issues, was shot dead near Ulhasnagar railway station in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Wednesday evening, October 14, police said, according to media reports. The incident reportedly took place around 8:30 pm in the Camp No. 4 area. According to preliminary reports, unidentified assailants opened fire on Gajwani before fleeing the scene. Some reports also indicated that he was attacked with sharp weapons.

Police personnel reached the spot following the incident and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area and gathering evidence to identify the attackers. Gajwani was known locally for using his YouTube channel and social media platforms to raise issues related to crime and public concerns. However, authorities have not established whether his reporting was connected to the attack.

Reports have also referred to a possible history of personal enmity and a previous murder case involving Gajwani in 2021. These details have not, by themselves, established a motive for the latest killing. The Vitthalwadi police are investigating the case, with the identities of the attackers and the reason behind the murder remaining key questions. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.

The killing has raised concerns about public safety in the vicinity of Ulhasnagar railway station, a busy area used by commuters and local residents. Police are expected to rely on witness statements, forensic evidence and surveillance footage to reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting. Authorities have not confirmed that Gajwani was targeted because of his work as a YouTuber. The motive behind the killing remains under investigation
