The train services between Quetta and the rest of Pakistan were suspended for several hours on monday after unknown individuals blew up a two-foot section of the railway track near Dera Murad Jamali using about three kilograms of explosives, Dawn reported on Tuesday. Police stated that the explosive device had been planted on the main track in the Dera Murad Jamali area of Nasirabad district in the morning and was later detonated remotely.

Police officials confirmed that the blast damaged a two-foot portion of the track, temporarily halting rail operations. Law enforcement agencies promptly reached the site to begin investigations. The incident follows previous attacks on the railway in the region. In November 2025, a Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express was targeted in an armed attack in the Bolan Pass area of Kachhi district. Earlier, another bomb had damaged the railway line between Quetta and Jacobabad.

Since March 11 last year, when terrorists from the Balochistan Liberation Army ambushed a Peshawar-bound train carrying 440 passengers, several attacks have occurred. On June 18, a remote-controlled explosive derailed four bogies near Jacobabad, reportedly claimed by the banned Baloch Republican Guards. On August 7 near Sibi, a train narrowly avoided another explosion, and three days later in Mastung, a bomb on the track derailed six bogies.

Attacks continued through September and October. On September 23, six bogies were derailed in Mastung, injuring four passengers. On October 7, seven people were hurt in Shikarpur, Sindh, when a blast occurred on the tracks. On October 29, the Jaffar Express narrowly escaped a rocket attack in Nasirabad’s Notal area, where armed men fired four rockets at the train, though none struck the coaches, according to Nasirabad SSP Ghulam Sarwar.
