Trump allegedly urged PM Modi to avoid buying oil from Russia, according to Owaisi.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi launched a strong critique of the RSS and the BJP, questioning the government’s handling of foreign policy and national security in the context of the recent India–US trade deal. Speaking at a public rally in Bhainsa, Telangana, Owaisi alleged that India’s strategic autonomy was being compromised under external pressure, particularly from the United States.
Owaisi claimed that former US President Donald Trump dictated India’s oil import decisions by asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop purchasing oil from Russia and instead source it from Venezuela. According to Owaisi, the Prime Minister agreed to this demand, raising serious concerns about India’s independence in making key economic and diplomatic choices. He questioned why a foreign leader should influence decisions related to India’s energy security.
Highlighting what he called inconsistencies in the government’s approach, Owaisi pointed out that China supplies nearly 80 percent of Pakistan’s weapons. Despite this, he alleged that the Modi government welcomed Chinese companies and encouraged investments, effectively “rolling out the red carpet” for China even as it continued to support Pakistan militarily.
Owaisi also referred to the controversy surrounding remarks from former Army Chief General MM Naravane’s unpublished memoirs, which were discussed in Parliament. He claimed that when Chinese troops entered Ladakh, the Army Chief sought clear instructions from the Prime Minister. Owaisi alleged that the response was vague, saying, “Do what is appropriate,” instead of issuing firm orders to push the intruding forces back.
These remarks come amid intense disruptions in Parliament after Rahul Gandhi attempted to reference Naravane’s unpublished memoir during a debate on the 2020 eastern Ladakh standoff. BJP leaders objected strongly, arguing that citing the book violated parliamentary norms and could negatively impact the morale of the armed forces.
