To support participants of the New Delhi Marathon, the Delhi Metro will commence services at 3:30 AM on February 22.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced that train services will begin early at 3:30 AM on Sunday, February 22, to support runners participating in the New Delhi Marathon. The Yellow, Blue, and Violet Lines will start operations from their terminal stations at that time, with trains running every 30 minutes until 6:00 AM. Afterward, services will follow the normal Sunday schedule. Other metro lines will operate according to their regular timetable.
In a post on X, Delhi Metro stated that this arrangement is intended to make travel easier for marathon participants. The event, organised by NEB Sports, is a prestigious annual race that includes a full marathon category, recognised as the National Championship. It provides runners an opportunity to compete with top athletes in the country, and outstanding performances may lead to national representation.
The Delhi government has approved Metro Phase V(A) to expand and modernise the city’s transport network. The decision was taken by the Cabinet led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The project will add three new metro corridors covering 16 kilometres and include 13 stations. The total estimated cost is Rs 12,014.91 crore, with the Delhi government contributing Rs 2,940.46 crore. The project is expected to be completed by 2028.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support, describing the project as an important step toward achieving the government’s 7-C Vision for transport, which focuses on making mobility common, connected, convenient, congestion-free, charged, clean, and cutting-edge. She highlighted that improving public transport is crucial for environmental protection and achieving net-zero emission targets.
