Telangana: Nampally Court postpones the hearing of the Sandhya Theatre stampede case to July 6.

The Nampally Criminal Court in Hyderabad, Telangana, has postponed the hearing in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case to July 6. Actor Allu Arjun, who has been named as one of the accused, was among those involved in the proceedings. The hearing was deferred as some accused individuals did not appear before the Magistrate. According to the Sandhya Theatre management’s legal team, Allu Arjun was absent from the virtual hearing, and his lawyer submitted a petition seeking exemption from his appearance.
Advocate Bhanu Chander, representing the Sandhya Theatre management, said the court hearing was scheduled for filing a committal bond before the Magistrate. He stated that out of the 23 accused listed in the police chargesheet, around 21 or 22 appeared before the court, while one or two were absent. The matter has now been moved to July 6, when all accused are expected to appear for the next stage of proceedings.
Chikkadpally Police have listed Allu Arjun as Accused No. 11, while Sandhya Theatre management members have been named as Accused Nos. 1 to 10. The court has issued summons to 19 accused, while police have submitted a chargesheet against 23 people connected to the incident. The stampede occurred on December 4, 2024, during a special screening of the film 'Pushpa 2' at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. A large crowd gathered outside the theatre to see Allu Arjun during the premiere, and the situation turned chaotic when the actor waved to fans from his car’s sunroof.
The incident resulted in the death of a woman named Revathi, while her son Sri Teja suffered severe injuries and was hospitalised. Following the tragedy, Allu Arjun provided financial support to the victim’s family, while his father and film producer Allu Aravind announced a contribution of Rs 2 crore as assistance for Revathi’s family.
