Supercar owners registered in Singapore were fined for illegal parking in Thailand.

Owners of four Singapore-registered sports cars were fined between 500 and 1,000 baht (S$19 to S$40) each for illegal parking in Phuket, Thailand, according to multiple Thai media reports on Wednesday (June 4). Videos showing the four cars parked illegally outside a high-end restaurant in Phuket circulated widely on social media platforms like Line and Facebook, as reported by Thai outlet Thaiger. One of the vehicles displayed a "GTR Owners Club Singapore" sticker, The Phuket News noted.
The cars were parked on a road marked with red and white lines, where parking is prohibited in Thailand. This violation sparked local outrage, prompting police action. Officers from Phuket City Police Station responded by clamping the vehicles and issuing fines to the owners, who are believed to be tourists, according to Thai publication Khaosod. The owners were later instructed to move their cars to avoid blocking traffic, The Phuket News added.
Following the incident, a post by a Thai influencer featuring the four Singapore-registered supercars went viral on Facebook, gaining over 10,300 likes by Friday afternoon. The video shows four Nissan GTRs parked along the roadside as the camera pans around, with a cheeky caption questioning why all cars of this model end up with wheel locks.
Many Facebook users expressed frustration at the foreign drivers for disrespecting Thai laws. One commenter said, “The most disgusting thing is being a foreigner and not respecting Thai law.” Others felt the fines were too small, comparing them to mere “parking fees” for these car owners. One user remarked, “It’s just pocket change for these people,” while another added, “The fine is considered a parking fee, no need to waste time looking for a parking spot.”
