Sony unveils the trailer for Marvel's Wolverine and announces a 2026 release for PS5.

Sony revealed the release timeline for Marvel’s Wolverine during the State of Play event on September 24, alongside a new gameplay trailer. The game will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 worldwide in Fall 2026. Originally announced in 2021, details had been scarce until now, but the newly released trailer shows promising visuals and gameplay.
The trailer highlights impressive graphics, seemingly surpassing the visual quality of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS5. Insomniac Games appears to have pushed the limits further, delivering fast-paced, action-packed sequences that are likely to keep players fully engaged. However, the game features intense violence, with Wolverine’s adamantium claws causing gory combat, so it’s not suitable for those sensitive to graphic content. Insomniac has embraced this fully, presenting uncensored, visceral combat.
Actor Liam McIntyre, known for Spartacus, will portray Wolverine. The story follows Logan as he seeks answers about his mysterious past while facing relentless enemies. Wolverine is depicted as a resilient, “reluctant hero” who leverages his healing ability, adamantium claws, and berserker instincts to execute brutal, precise attacks. Although traditionally a lone hero, the game will include appearances from Marvel characters such as Mystique and Omega Red, along with antagonistic groups like the Reavers. The trailer also teased a prototype Sentinel robot.
Insomniac revealed that Wolverine’s journey will span global locations including Madripoor, Canada, and Tokyo, providing diverse backdrops for intense combat and cinematic action. The studio aims to deliver the ultimate Wolverine experience, featuring fast, fluid combat, cinematic set pieces, accessibility options, and a story true to the core of one of Marvel’s most iconic characters.
