Sharman Joshi, the son-in-law of Prem Chopra, has shared that the veteran actor has been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis.

Weeks after veteran actor Prem Chopra was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, his son-in-law and actor Sharman Joshi has shared an update on his health. In an Instagram post, Sharman revealed that Prem Chopra was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis and underwent a successful TAVI procedure, a minimally invasive method of replacing the aortic valve without open-heart surgery. He added that the actor has made a quick recovery and has now returned home.
Expressing gratitude, Sharman wrote that the family deeply appreciates the exceptional care provided by cardiologists Dr. Nitin Gokhale and Dr. Ravinder Singh Rao. According to him, Dr. Rao performed the valve replacement through TAVI, while Dr. Gokhale’s guidance throughout the process offered the family great reassurance. Their expertise, he noted, ensured a smooth, complication-free procedure and a fast recovery for Prem Chopra. Sharman also posted a few photos from the hospital, showing Prem Chopra looking healthy while posing with his doctors. Veteran actor Jeetendra appeared in the photos as well, indicating he may have visited Prem Chopra during his stay.
Earlier in November, Prem Chopra had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital with chest congestion and was discharged a week later, on November 15. Known for memorable roles in films like Prem Nagar, Upkar, and Bobby, Prem Chopra has built an iconic legacy as one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated and enduring on-screen villains, earning recognition both in India and internationally over a career spanning more than four decades.
