Robert Vadra returns to ED for a second day of questioning in connection with the land deal case.

Robert Vadra, the businessman and brother-in-law of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for a second consecutive day on Tuesday for questioning in a money laundering case related to a 2008 land deal in Haryana. He was accompanied by his wife, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress MP from Wayanad, Kerala, and the two shared a hug before Vadra entered the ED office.
Vadra was questioned for around five hours on Tuesday, with his statement being recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), according to official sources. The questioning session will continue on Wednesday. The 56-year-old Vadra dismissed the ED's actions as "political vendetta" and emphasized that he has always cooperated with investigators, providing substantial documentation. He also mentioned that cases as old as 20 years should be closed.
The investigation involves a land deal from February 2008 in Manesar-Shikohpur (now sector 83) in Gurugram, Haryana. The deal was conducted by Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd, a company where Vadra was previously a director. The company bought 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur from Onkareshwar Properties for Rs 7.5 crore. At the time, Haryana was governed by a Congress-led government under Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
In 2012, Skylight Hospitality sold the land to real estate giant DLF for Rs 58 crore. The deal became controversial in October 2012 when IAS officer Ashok Khemka, then serving as the Director General of Land Consolidation and Land Records, canceled the mutation of the transaction, deeming it a violation of the state's consolidation Act. The opposition BJP in Haryana accused the deal of corruption and nepotism, citing Vadra's ties to the Congress leadership. In 2018, the Haryana Police filed an FIR to investigate the deal, and Vadra has been questioned by the ED in connection with this and other money laundering cases previously.
