India and Greece are poised to further consolidate their expanding defence partnership as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh prepares to hold bilateral talks with Greek Defence Minister Nikolaos Georgios S Dendias in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting is expected to reaffirm the two countries’ shared commitment to deepening defence cooperation, which has emerged as a key pillar of their broader strategic relationship.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the talks will take place at the Manekshaw Centre on 9 February 2026 and will focus on strengthening collaboration across various defence and security domains. The engagement reflects the steady momentum in India Greece relations, driven by converging strategic interests and increased cooperation in recent years.

The high level meeting follows earlier discussions held on Friday between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Nikos Dendias, during which a wide range of strategic and security related issues were reviewed. Jaishankar described the interaction as detailed and productive, noting the value of the perspectives shared by the Greek minister.

Dendias, who is visiting India at the invitation of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, also highlighted the positive nature of his engagements in New Delhi. He said the discussions covered important regional and international developments and underlined the cordial and constructive tone of the talks.

The visit gains added significance as it comes just weeks after the signing of the India European Union Free Trade Agreement. This broader diplomatic and economic context has provided fresh impetus to India’s engagement with European partners, including Greece, with defence cooperation playing an increasingly important role in strengthening long term strategic ties between New Delhi and Athens.
